Gratitude
Hasan HadithSunan Ibn Majah 3803

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ

All praise is for Allah in all circumstances.

Al-hamdulillah 'ala kulli hal

When to Read

Recite this upon receiving any good news, encountering a positive development, or realizing a new, unexpected opportunity. It's a beautiful way to acknowledge that all good comes from Allah, even if it catches us by surprise.

How to Read

Say this with sincerity and a present heart, reflecting on the blessing you've just received. It's a statement of faith, recognizing Allah's continuous grace in your life, whether expected or not. Make it a habit to express gratitude, even for the small things that might seem ordinary.

Virtues & Benefits

This simple yet profound statement cultivates a mindset of constant gratitude. It reminds us that every situation, especially positive turns, is a gift from Allah. By acknowledging this, we strengthen our connection with Him, increase His blessings upon us (as Allah says, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you' - Ibrahim 14:7), and foster contentment in our hearts, regardless of life's challenges.

Source & Authentication

Narrated by 'Abdullah bin Mughaffal (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Whoever says, 'Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal' (All praise is for Allah in all circumstances), Allah writes for him seventy blessings, and whoever says 'Alhamdulillah 'ala ni'mati' (All praise is for Allah for His favor), Allah forgives him.'
