اللَّهُمَّ أَعِنِّي عَلَى ذِكْرِكَ وَشُكْرِكَ وَحُسْنِ عِبَادَتِكَ
O Allah, help me to remember You, to give You thanks, and to worship You in the best manner.
Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika
When to Read
This is a beautiful general dua that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us to recite after completing our salah (obligatory prayers). It encompasses seeking Allah's help in remembering Him, being grateful to Him, and worshipping Him properly. While not exclusively for the ability to forgive, the principle of gratitude for all of Allah's blessings, including the inner strength and peace that comes from forgiving others, is encompassed here. You can make this a regular part of your post-salah routine, reflecting on the day's interactions and seeking Allah's aid in maintaining a forgiving heart.
How to Read
Recite this dua after you have finished your taslim (saying 'Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah' on both sides) at the end of your prayer. Make sincere supplication, focusing on the meaning of the words and asking Allah to genuinely assist you in remembering and thanking Him, and in perfecting your worship. The act of seeking help to be thankful inherently includes gratitude for the ability to forgive, as forgiveness itself is a profound blessing that brings peace and eases burdens.
Virtues & Benefits
This dua is a comprehensive request for assistance in fulfilling the core purposes of our creation: remembrance of Allah, gratitude towards Him, and excellent worship. By asking for help in these areas, we acknowledge our dependence on Allah for the strength to be good Muslims. Gratitude, as requested in this dua, is a high status that brings us closer to Allah and increases His favors. The ability to forgive others is a significant blessing that stems from a heart that has received Allah's mercy and guidance; by asking for help to be thankful, we are implicitly thanking Allah for enabling us to reach this noble trait.

‘Abdullah ibn Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "No one says after every prayer: Allahumma a'inni 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatika, but that his sins are forgiven, even if they were as abundant as the foam of the sea."
