How to Read

This is a comprehensive statement of gratitude that can be recited at any time, whether in prayer, during times of reflection, or in response to any situation. The key is sincerity and a genuine feeling of thankfulness to Allah for His blessings, including the ability to endure, which is itself a blessing granted through His grace. It’s about cultivating a mindset of constant awareness of Allah's presence and His wisdom behind all events.

Virtues & Benefits

Saying 'Alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal' acknowledges Allah's sovereignty over all affairs. It fosters contentment and acceptance of His decree, which are key aspects of faith. This practice helps to purify the heart from complaint and anxiety, replacing them with gratitude and trust in Allah's plan. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ mentioned the immense reward for the believer in every situation: 'How wonderful is the affair of the believer! All his affairs are good, and this applies to no one but the believer. If something good happens to him, he is thankful, and that is good for him. If something bad happens to him, he is patient, and that is good for him.' (Sahih Muslim 2999). This dua embodies the essence of being thankful in good times and patient in bad, both of which are sources of goodness for the believer.
