When to Read

This beautiful supplication is recited by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ when visiting the home of a Muslim. It's a perfect expression of gratitude not just for the physical space, but for the people within it, the provisions shared, and the overall peace and mercy that fills the home. We can adapt its spirit by making similar duas for our own homes, especially after a meal shared, or upon entering our homes, acknowledging Allah's blessings.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity and a heart full of appreciation. Visualize Allah's blessings encompassing your home and family. Imagine the Prophet's ﷺ own warmth and concern for the Muslims he visited, and let that inspire your own feelings of thankfulness. It’s a prayer for continued blessings, forgiveness, and mercy, which are the true foundations of a peaceful home.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to the house of Uthman bin Maz'un and he said: 'O Abu al-Sa'ib, the wealth of one who has no fear of Allah is not but dried dung!' Uthman said: 'O Messenger of Allah, do you not fear Allah?' The Prophet ﷺ said: 'May Allah have no regard for me if I fear him not.' Then he said: 'O Abu al-Sa'ib, what did you say to your people?' He said: 'I said to them: 'O people, you have no right to possess anything.' Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'O Allah, bless them in what You have provided for them, forgive them, and have mercy on them.'
