Narrated Hudhaifah: Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) got up for the night (to offer Salah), he would say: 'Allah-u-Akbar' (Allah is Greater). Then he would recite: 'Subhana-ka-Allahumma wa bihamdika, wa tabara-ka-smuka, wa ta'ala jadduka, wa la ilaha ghairuk.' (Glory be to You, O Allah, and Your praise is blessed, and Your Name is exalted, and Your Majesty is glorified, and none has the right to be worshipped but You). Then he would recite: 'Allahu Akbar wal hamdulillah wa subhanallahi wa la ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wa la haula wa la quwwata illa billahil 'aliyyil 'azim.' (Allah is Greater, and all praise is due to Allah, and glory be to Allah, and none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and Allah is Greater, and there is no might nor power but with Allah, the Most High, the Most Great). Then he would say: 'Allahumma-ghfirli' (O Allah, forgive me) or supplicate. (When he woke up from sleep) he would say: 'Alhamdulillahillazi ahyaana ba'da ma amaatanaa wa ilaihin-nushoor.' (All praise is due to Allah, Who has brought us back to life after causing us to die, and to Him is the resurrection).
