โœฆ

My Lord, expand for me my breast, and make my task easy for me, and loosen the knot from my tongue that they may understand my speech.

Rabbi-shrah li sadri wa yassir li amri wah-lul 'uqdatam mil-lisaani yafqahu qawli

When to Read

Recite this dua before and during an exam, especially when you need clarity of thought, the ability to articulate your knowledge, and for the examiner to comprehend your answers accurately. It's also beneficial when presenting any work where understanding and clear communication are key.

How to Read

Recite with sincerity and conviction, focusing on the meaning of the words. Ask Allah to open your heart to understanding, ease your path in the examination, and to make your words clear and comprehensible to those who are evaluating you. Itโ€™s good to make this habit before you even begin the exam paper.

Virtues & Benefits

This is the dua that Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) made when he was commanded by Allah to go to Firaun. It's a powerful supplication for: 1. **Clarity of Mind:** Asking Allah to 'expand my breast' seeks mental spaciousness, enabling better retention and recall of knowledge. 2. **Ease of Task:** 'Make my task easy' invokes Allah's help in overcoming difficulties, making the exam feel less daunting. 3. **Articulate Speech/Writing:** 'Loosen the knot from my tongue' is a request for clear, effective communication, ensuring your thoughts are conveyed precisely to the examiner. 4. **Comprehension by Others:** The final part, 'that they may understand my speech,' directly addresses the need for the examiner to grasp the essence of your understanding and effort.
