Exams
Sahih HadithSahih Ibn Hibban 1172

اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنُ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً.

O Allah, there is no ease except that which You make easy. If You wish, You can make hardship easy.

Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahla, wa anta taj'alu al-hazna idha shi'ta sahla.

When to Read

This dua is particularly relevant when facing challenges, including exams where you feel your unseen efforts might not be fully recognized. Recite it just before entering the examination hall, or when you feel overwhelmed by the difficulty or the pressure of being assessed.

How to Read

Raise your hands slightly (as if making a gentle supplication) and recite this with sincerity and full conviction in Allah's power to ease your situation. Focus on the meaning: acknowledging that true ease comes only from Allah, and He can transform any difficulty into ease.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua acknowledges Allah's sovereignty over all matters, including making difficult tasks easy. By reciting it, you are seeking Allah's help to make the examination process smooth, for your knowledge to be accessible, and for the examiner to perceive your genuine effort and understanding, even if it's not perfectly articulated under pressure.

Source & Authentication

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to say when he faced a difficulty: 'Allahumma la sahla illa ma ja'altahu sahla, wa anta taj'alu al-hazna idha shi'ta sahla.' (O Allah, there is no ease except that which You make easy, and You make hardship easy if You will.)
