Exams
Sahih HadithSahih al-Bukhari 6347

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of tribulation, and the attainment of misery, and the evil of decree, and the rejoicing of enemies.

Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min jahdil-bala'i, wa darakish-shaqa'i, wa su'il-qada'i, wa shamatatil-a'da'i

When to Read

This powerful supplication is highly relevant during exam periods. You can recite it daily, especially in the mornings and evenings, as a proactive measure against the overwhelming stress and pressure that often accompany exams. It's also incredibly beneficial to turn to it when you feel the weight of these challenges pressing down on you, seeking Allah's protection before, during, and after your exams.

How to Read

Recite this dua with sincere intention and conviction. Raise your hands as you would for other supplications, though it's not strictly required for this specific wording. Utter the words clearly, reflecting on their meaning: asking Allah to shield you from the intense struggles, the descent into unhappiness, the negative outcomes, and the satisfaction of adversaries (which can metaphorically represent the 'victory' of stress over your peace of mind). Make it a habit, especially during stressful times like exams, and trust in Allah's promise of a response.

Virtues & Benefits

This hadith, narrated by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, encapsulates seeking refuge in Allah from some of the most profound difficulties in life. For students facing exams, reciting this dua offers several benefits: * **Spiritual Resilience:** It fortifies your spirit against the intense mental and emotional strain of studying and testing. You are essentially asking Allah to grant you the strength to endure. * **Protection from Negative Outcomes:** 'Sui'il-qada'i' (evil of decree) can be interpreted as seeking protection from failing, or experiencing outcomes that lead to distress and regret. * **Peace of Mind:** By seeking refuge from 'jahdil-bala'i' (hardship of tribulation) and 'darakish-shaqa'i' (attainment of misery), you are asking for ease and contentment, which are crucial for clear thinking during exams. * **Trust in Allah (Tawakkul):** It's a practical manifestation of placing your trust in Allah (Tawakkul) after making your best effort. You are doing your part in studying, and then seeking His ultimate protection and ease. This dua reminds us that true protection and peace come from our connection with Allah, even in the face of worldly pressures.
