โœฆ

My Lord, expand my chest, and make my task easy for me, and loosen the knot from my tongue, so they may understand my speech.

Rabbi-shrah li sadri wa yassir li amri wah-lul 'uqdatam mil-lisaani yafqahu qawli

When to Read

Recite this dua before you begin your exam, or at any point during the exam when you feel your mind going blank or struggling to recall information. It's also beneficial to recite it during your revision period leading up to the exam.

How to Read

With sincere intention and full reliance on Allah. Raise your hands in supplication as you would in prayer, and make this plea. Visualize Allah opening your mind and making the information accessible. Repeat it a few times with focus and concentration. It is also advised to perform wudu (ablution) before making dua, as it is a form of seeking closeness to Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This powerful dua, originally made by Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) when he was tasked with confronting Pharaoh, is a direct appeal to Allah for clarity, ease, and understanding. When you recite it for an exam, you are essentially asking Allah to: 1. **Expand your chest (rabbishrah li sadri):** This signifies making your mind open to receive and retain information, removing any mental blockages or anxieties that hinder recall. 2. **Make your task easy (wa yassir li amri):** You are asking Allah to simplify the challenge of the exam, making it easier for you to access and articulate the knowledge you have studied. 3. **Loosen the knot from your tongue (wahlul 'uqdatam mil-lisaani):** This specifically addresses the ability to express yourself clearly and coherently, ensuring that you can articulate the answers accurately. It helps in overcoming the stammering or confusion that can occur under pressure. By reciting this, you are acknowledging that true success and ease come only from Allah. It's not just about memorization, but about Allah facilitating the entire process for you.
