Exams
Sahih HadithSunan Ibn Majah 925

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلًا مُتَقَبَّلًا.

O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision, and acceptable deeds.

Allahumma inni as'aluka 'ilman nafi'an, wa rizqan tayyiban, wa 'amalan mutaqabbalan.

When to Read

This dua is excellent to recite before starting your exams, or even during the exam itself when you are facing a difficult question or feel overwhelmed. It's about seeking Allah's help for the knowledge you've acquired to be effective and for the effort you put in to be accepted.

How to Read

Recite this with sincerity, raising your hands slightly if possible, and believing in Allah's power to grant you what you ask for. Focus on the meaning: seeking knowledge that benefits you in this life and the next, provision that is pure and lawful, and deeds that are accepted by Allah. Imagine your exam answers as a form of 'deed' or effort you are presenting to Allah.

Virtues & Benefits

This comprehensive dua asks for three crucial things: 1. **Beneficial Knowledge ('Ilman Nafi'an'):** Knowledge that not only helps you in your exams but also guides you in your life and brings you closer to Allah. 2. **Goodly Provision (Rizqan Tayyiban'):** Sustenance that is pure, lawful, and blessed. 3. **Acceptable Deeds ('Amalan Mutaqabbalan'):** Actions that are done with sincerity for Allah's sake and are pleasing to Him. By extension, your efforts in exams, when accompanied by this intention, can become a means of pleasing Allah and earning His reward. This seeks to purify the intention behind the exam and the effort itself, making it a righteous act.
