I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from His anger and His punishment, and from the evil of His creation, and from the evil suggestions of devils, and from their presence.

When to Read
This dua is incredibly potent when you feel the heat of anger rising due to an inconvenience caused by someone else's mistake or oversight. It's not just for moments of extreme anger, but also for that simmering frustration when a colleague is late, a driver cuts you off, or someone unintentionally bumps into you. Reciting it *before* the anger fully takes hold can be your shield.
How to Read
Recite this dua with sincerity and a focused heart. Visualize yourself seeking Allah's protection, not just from the external cause of your anger, but from the internal fire itself. It's best recited when you first recognize the stirrings of frustration or anger, or even as a daily practice to build your resilience against anger.
Virtues & Benefits
This comprehensive dua acts as a powerful shield. By seeking refuge in Allah's perfect words, you are asking for protection from the consequences of anger, both divine punishment and the harm you might inflict on others or yourself. It's a recognition that anger often stems from Shaytan's whispers, and this dua directly counters those influences, helping to cool the heart and restore composure. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught this as a means to ward off harm and protect oneself from intense displeasure and its repercussions.

Humaid bin 'Abdur-Rahman narrated that a man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me a comprehensive word." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Your anger, from Your chastisement, and from Your evil in regard to Your creation.'" The man contemplated for a while and then said, "O Messenger of Allah, what should I say?" He (the Prophet ﷺ) said: "Say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge in You from Your anger, and from Your chastisement, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of Your enemies, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of my own actions.'"
