Dua for Forgiveness When Questioning Allah's Decree

Anger
Sahih HadithSahih Muslim 2706

O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which is with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my anxiety.

Allahumma inni 'abdika, ibnu 'abdika, ibnu amatik, nasiyatii biyadika, madin fiyya hukmuka, 'adlun fiyya qada'uka, as'aluka bikulli ismin huwa laka, sammayta bihi nafsaka, aw anzaltahu fi kitábika, aw 'allamtahu ahadan min khalqika, aw ista'tharta bihi fi 'ilm il-ghaybi 'indaka, an taj'ala al-Qur'ana rabi'a qalbi, wa nura sadri, wa jila'a huzni, wa dhahaba hammi

Source & Authentication

Narrated Abdullah ibn Mas'ud: The Prophet ﷺ said: 'No person suffers any anxiety or grief, and then says: O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your judgment upon me is effective. Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that You have called Yourself, or revealed in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or kept to Yourself in the knowledge of the unseen which is with You, that You make the Qur'an the springtime of my heart, and the light of my chest, the banisher of my sadness, and the reliever of my anxiety, but Allah will take away his anxiety and grief and give him in their stead relief.' He was asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, should we not learn these words?' He replied: 'Yes, it is incumbent upon everyone who hears them after you to learn them.'
